About Me
I have been lucky enough to live in Ouray County for about five years. For me, there’s no better place to call home. My wife Janessa and I moved here after a three-year stint in the DC area, and prior to that, five years on the Front Range. Since moving here I have worked remotely. At first for the US Department of Defense, then Amazon Web Services, and now a small South African network security company. In order to make connections within the community I’ve thrown myself into volunteering, serving as a:
- Volunteer firefighter on Loghill Fire Department
- EMT for Ouray County Emergency Medical Services
- Board member for the Sherbino theater
- Loghill Home & Property Owners Association board president
On top of that, I enjoy the outdoors of Ouray County with my wife Janessa, 2.5 year-old daughter McKenzie, and rescue dog, Dusty.
Experience
This is my first foray into political service; in addition to my Bachelors and Masters in Computer Science, I have over 15 years of computer security experience for both the public and private sectors. I have also served in a volunteer capacity as firefighter, EMT, and software developer for a number of organizations.
Most relevant to this role is my time as a government appointee for the US Department of Defense, DARPA. As a Program Manager, I was responsible for initiating, managing, and transitioning cyber-security, AI, and data analytic programs on the behalf of the American People. I oversaw the budget planning, execution, and oversight of a budget of approximately $400M. As a steward of tax-payer money, I worked to ensure transparent reporting to Congress and the public about my efforts, and minimize expenses without “throwing out the baby with the bath water”.
